Performance Requirements for Automotive Generator Bearings
1. Automotive Generator
The automotive generator is the main power source of the vehicle. Its function is to supply electricity to all electrical equipment (excluding the starter) such as the radio, windshield wipers, and automatic windows while the engine is running normally, and to charge the battery.
2. Automotive Generator Bearings
Rings and Rolling Elements
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made of high-grade GCr15 steel in accordance with GB/T18254-2016. Their hardness and other heat treatment quality should meet the requirements of GB/T34891-2017 or the product drawings.
Cage
Bearings for passenger vehicles generally use glass-fiber reinforced polyamide 66 or glass-fiber reinforced polyamide 46. The technical requirements for the material and finished product comply with JB/T 7048-2011.
Bearings for commercial vehicles generally use 08, 10, or DC01 steel plates. The technical requirements for the material and finished product comply with GB/T28268-2012. Bearings can also be made of other materials with equivalent or superior performance.
Seal Ring
Seal rings for passenger vehicle bearings should function normally within a temperature range of -40℃ to 180℃.
Seal rings for commercial vehicle bearings should function normally within a temperature range of -40℃ to 150℃. Other technical requirements (except for seal material) follow JB/T6639-2015.
Lubrication and Sealing
Grease filled in passenger vehicle bearings should function normally within a temperature range of -40℃ to 180℃, with the grease amount approximately 25% to 30% of the bearing’s internal effective volume.
Grease filled in commercial vehicle bearings should function normally within a temperature range of -40℃ to 150℃, with the grease amount approximately 30% to 35% of the bearing’s internal effective volume.
Sealing Performance Tests
- Grease leakage, temperature rise, and dust prevention tests
- Water immersion test
- Spraying test
- Temperature variation test
- Overspeed test
- High-temperature and high-speed test
- Rapid acceleration and deceleration test
- Fatigue life test
