Type of steel
The molten steel produced in the furnace is cast into billets, and the ingots or billets are pressed into steel (steel products). There are many types of steel, which can generally be divided into four categories: molds, plates, tubes and wires.
Section steel
There are many varieties of section steel, which is a kind of solid long steel with a certain cross-sectional shape and size. According to the different cross-sectional shapes, it is divided into two types: simple and complex cross-sections. The former includes round bars, square bars, flat bars, hexagonal bars and angle bars; The latter includes rails, I-beams, channel steels, window frame steels and special-shaped steels. Small round steel with a diameter of 6.5-9.0mm is called wire.
Steel plates
It is a flat steel with a large width-to-thickness ratio and surface area. According to the different thicknesses, it is divided into three types: thin plate (thickness < 4mm), medium plate (thickness 4-25mm) and thick plate (thickness > 25mm). Steel strips are included within the steel plate category.
Steel pipes
It is a long strip of steel with a hollow section. According to its different cross-sectional shapes, it can be divided into round pipes, square pipes, hexagonal pipes and various special-shaped cross-section steel pipes. According to the different processing technology, it can be divided into two categories: seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe.
Steel wires
Steel wire is another cold-worked product of wire. According to different shapes, it is divided into round steel wire, flat steel wire and triangular steel wire, etc. In addition to direct use, steel wire is also used in the production of wire ropes, steel grain lines and other products.
Angle steel
Angle steel, commonly known as angle iron, is a long strip of steel that is perpendicular to each other on both sides. There are equal angle steel and unequal angle steel. The two sides of an equilateral angle are equal in width. Its specifications are expressed in millimeters of side width× side width × edge thickness. For example, "∠30×30×3", which means that the side width is 30 mm and the side thickness is 3 mm. It can also be expressed by the model number, which is the number of centimeters of the side width, such as ∠3#. The model does not represent the size of different side thicknesses in the same model, so the side width and side thickness of the angle steel are filled in the contract and other documents, so as to avoid using the model alone. The specifications of hot-rolled equilateral angle steel are 2#-20#.
Angle steel can be composed of various different stressed components according to the different needs of the structure, and can also be used as a connector between components. It is widely used in various building structures and engineering structures, such as house beams, bridges, transmission towers, lifting and transportation machinery, ships, industrial furnaces, reaction towers, container racks and warehouse shelves.
Round steel
Round steel refers to a solid strip of steel with a circular cross-section. Its specifications are expressed in millimeters of diameter, e.g. "50" means a round bar with a diameter of 50 mm. There are three types of round bars: hot-rolled, forged and cold-drawn. Hot-rolled round bars are available in sizes from 5.5 to 250 mm. Among them: 5.5-25 mm small round steel is mostly supplied in bundles of straight strips, which are often used as steel bars, bolts and various mechanical parts; Round bars larger than 25 mm are mainly used to make mechanical parts or seamless steel tube blanks.
Rebar
The steel bar for reinforced concrete refers to the straight bar or wire strip steel used for reinforced concrete reinforcement, and its shape is divided into two types: light round steel bar and deformed steel bar, and the delivery state is straight bar and disc round. The light round steel bar is actually the small round steel and disc circle of ordinary low carbon steel. Deformed steel bars are ribbed steel bars with a surface, usually with 2 longitudinal ribs and transverse ribs evenly spaced along the length. There are three types of transverse ribs: spiral, herringbone and crescent. It is expressed in millimeters of nominal diameter. The nominal diameter of the deformed reinforcement is equivalent to the nominal diameter of the light round reinforcement with equal cross-section. The nominal diameter of the steel bar is 8-50 mm, and the recommended diameter is 8, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40 mm.
Reinforcing bars are mainly subjected to tensile stress in concrete. Due to the action of ribs, the deformed steel bar has a greater bonding capacity with concrete, so it can better withstand the action of external force. Steel bars are widely used in various building structures, especially large, heavy, lightweight, thin-walled and high-rise building structures.
Channel steel
Channel steel is a long strip of steel with a grooved cross-section. Its specification representation method, such as 120*53*5, indicates a channel steel with a waist height of 120 mm and a leg width of 53 mm, and a channel steel with a waist thickness of 5 mm, or 12# channel steel. If there are several different leg widths and waist thicknesses, you also need to add A, B, and C on the right side of the model to distinguish them, such as 25A#, 25B#, 25C#, etc. Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specification of hot-rolled ordinary channel steel is 5-40#. The specifications of hot-rolled flexible channel steel supplied by agreement between the supply and demand parties are 6.5-30#.
Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, vehicle manufacturing and other industrial structures, and channel steel is often used in conjunction with I-beams.
