What Are the Common Spindle Bearings?
The operation of CNC machining equipment such as machine tools, grinders, and milling machines cannot do without spindle bearings. Thanks to these bearings, machining equipment can maintain operational accuracy. For these machines, selecting the right bearing is very important, but with so many types of bearings, which ones are commonly used as spindle bearings? How should machine tool manufacturers choose?
Common Spindle Bearings:
1. Angular Contact Ball Bearings: One of the most widely used spindle bearings, with excellent high-speed performance and axial load capacity. They are used on high-speed CNC machines and electric spindles in back-to-back, face-to-face, or tandem pair arrangements.
2. Deep Groove Ball Bearings: Simple in structure and low in cost, mainly bearing radial loads. Suitable for spindle systems with lower machining requirements or less stringent rigidity requirements.
3. Cylindrical Roller Bearings: High rigidity, strong load capacity, and good thermal expansion compensation. Often used in combination with other bearings on spindles of heavy-duty machining equipment.
4. Hybrid Ceramic Ball Bearings: Featuring ceramic balls with steel rings, they are heat-resistant, lightweight, low friction, and long-lasting. Widely used in high-speed spindles or extreme operating conditions.
5. Tapered Roller Bearings: Mainly used to bear combined loads, can adjust preloading force, and have strong shock resistance. Commonly found on lathe spindles and heavy-duty spindles.
How to Find Suitable Spindle Bearings?
1. Define the specifications required by the spindle, including inner diameter, outer diameter, width, load, speed, etc. If choosing angular contact ball bearings, also determine the contact angle and cage material.
2. Select bearings that meet the required precision standard. Generally, spindles require P5 or higher, such as P4 or P2, to ensure rotational accuracy and dynamic balancing performance.
There are many common spindle bearing types for machine tools, such as angular contact ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, and hybrid ceramic ball bearings, each suited to different machine operating conditions.
